Create Email Account in CPanel

Introduction

An email address that carries your domain name, such as info@yourdomain.com, gives your website a polished look and earns more trust from customers than an ordinary free account ever could. cPanel, one of the best-known hosting control panels, makes it easy to set up as many mailboxes as you need, with no advanced technical skills required. This guide takes you through every stage: creating the account, configuring it, and opening it from any device you like.

Why Use an Email Address on Your Own Domain?

  • A more professional image: an address such as sales@yourcompany.com carries far more credibility than one on Gmail or Yahoo.
  • Full ownership of your data: the account and everything inside it stay under your sole control.
  • Room to scale: depending on your plan, you can open plenty of mailboxes for departments like support, sales, and management.
  • Easy integration with work tools: connect it to Outlook or any mobile mail app in just a few steps.

How to Create a New Mailbox

1. Log In to the Control Panel

Open your browser and go to the login address your hosting company sent you, usually in the form yourdomain.com/cpanel, then enter your credentials.

2. Go to the Email Section

On the home screen, locate the Email section and click the Email Accounts icon.

3. Add the Account

Click the Create button, then complete these fields:

  • Username: the part before the @ symbol, such as “info” or “support”.
  • Domain: select the right one if you have more than one domain.
  • Password: it is best to use the built-in password generator to get a strong one.
  • Mailbox size: set the allowed limit, or leave it unlimited if your plan permits.

4. Finish the Process

Click Create a second time and the new account will show up in the list right away.

How to Access Your Mailbox Once It Is Created

There are two main ways:

  1. Directly from the browser (Webmail): click Check Email beside the account on the same Email Accounts page, and an interface such as Roundcube or Horde will open.
  2. Through an external mail program: such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or a phone app, using the IMAP/POP3/SMTP settings cPanel provides (we cover these in another article).

Practical Tips for Better Management

  • Give each mailbox its own strong, unique password.
  • Switch on Auto Responder to send automatic replies while you are away.
  • Keep an eye on storage use so the mailbox never stops receiving messages.
  • Use Forwarders whenever you need to route messages from one account to another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually it does not. If your hosting plan supports cPanel, mailboxes are included, unless the plan limits the total number of accounts.

It depends on your hosting plan; some offer unlimited accounts, while others set a ceiling.

Absolutely. From the Email Accounts page, choose “Manage” or “Change Password” and update it whenever you wish.

IMAP keeps your messages synchronized across all your devices, whereas POP3 downloads them to a single device only. In most cases IMAP is the better choice.

You can raise the quota from the same page if your plan allows it, or delete older messages to free up space.
